Prof. Shams Mohajerzadeh was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1964. He received the undergraduate degree in electronics from the Sharif University of Technology, Iran, in 1989 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada, in 1992 and 1996, respectively. He joined the University of Tehran as a Lecturer, where he is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. While studying for the PhD degree, he worked on epitaxial growth of silicon and silicon-Ge films on silicon substrates using an ion-assisted technique. He is now interested in thin-film transistor fabrication using amorphous and polycrystalline silicon and Ge layers. SnO2-based gas sensors are also of great interest to him. He has filed a U.S. patent on YSZ-based oxygen sensors. Apart from electronic devices, he is working on the micromachining of polymers and silicon substrates. Prof. Mohajerzadeh has written more than 100 journal and conference papers and has filed four U.S. patents.
